The Mountaineers won three matches in a row and four of the last five. Behind the Seniors Benefiel and Smith, Mount St. Mary's blanked Harford Community College 7-0 on Senior Day. The seniors picked up wins in both doubles and singles flights that helped lead the Mount to the victory. The Mountaineers recorded the one point advantage from doubles competition by sweeping all of the flights. Mount St. Mary's swept in singles action as well winning all of the flights in only two sets. Quintanilla ended a solid freshman year regular season with a singles record of 17-9 with the win on Tuesday.

The NEC runner up last year, Bryant finished the 2016-17 regular season at 5-12 overall and 4-1 in NEC play to earn the No. 2 seed in this year's tournament. The Bulldogs fell to the number one seeded LIU Brooklyn, 6-1, in their first league matchup, but topped their next four NEC opponents. Stefanie Arroyo has the team's best singles record with a 11-10.
The Mountaineers and the Bulldogs will meet for the second time in series history in the matchup on Friday. Bryant has won the two meetings including a 6-1 win earlier this year over the Mount. The Bulldogs won the other matchup 5-2 back in 2013.
LAST YEAR'S CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Mount claimed the sixth seed at the 2015 NEC Championships, but fell by a 4-1 margin in a quarterfinal matchup with third-seeded Saint Francis U. Bryant was crowned tournament champions with a 4-0 upset over top-seeded LIU Brooklyn in the championship match.

The Mountaineers have won the most Northeast Conference Championships in league history with seven, setting a conference record by winning seven in a row from 1989-95.
