Emmitsburg, Md. (December 10, 2012)—Head coach Phil Hammond announced the signing of two recruits for the 2013-14 season. Erin Benefiel (Sanford, Fla./Lake Mary Prep) and Elizabeth Milano (Marietta, Ga./Blessed Trinity) will both attend Mount St. Mary's after signing National Letters of Intent.
Benefiel was named All-Central Florida last year while earning All-Seminole honors the last three years. She was a Florida state qualifier in singles the past two years, while also qualifying for doubles last year. She was District Champion in both singles and doubles last year and she helped her team to the District Championships the past two seasons. In USTA play, she has been ranked in the top 100 for Florida junior girls several times.
Milano helped lead her high school team to a Regional Championship her first two seasons, and the State Championships the past three years. She was chosen for the Georgia State championship team in 2009 and 2012 and she is currently ranked #30 in the USTA Georgia girls 18 and under rankings.
"Erin and Elizabeth are the type of student athletes that I like to bring into our tennis program! They are both very competitive on the tennis court and they are good students in the classroom."
The Mount women return to action February 17, when they travel to Lehigh to kick off the spring season.
