Kelly Conroy and Women's Tennis Face Towson on Thursday
Opening Serve: The Mount women will face in state rivals Towson on Thursday afternoon. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM at the MSM Tennis Courts.
Quick Hits on the Mason Invitational: The Mount women competed in the George Mason Invitational on Saturday. The Mount played Georgetown and George Mason. Senor Renee Deane and sophomore Danielle Nguyen picked up wins against Georgetown, while fellow senior Carly Landini picked up a victory over George Mason.
About the Tigers: Towson is coming off competing in the Navy Invitational. Andrea Samlin finished 2nd in Flight C singles, while teammate Ariel Burke lost in the consolation bracket of Flight C.
Last Year Against Towson: Last year, the Tigers defeated the Mount 6-1 in Towson. Kelly Conroy provided the lone Mountaineer point at No. 2 singles. Conroy defeated Nisha Shah, 2-6, 7-5, 10-7.
Same Old, Same Old: The Mount returns all but one starter from last year. The starting five all return from last year, minus Lauren Clark (Colt's Neck, NJ/ Red Bank Catholic). The team features a slew of veteran experience, with five upperclassmen. The team is spear headed by seniors Kelly Conroy (Tallahassee, Fla./ John Paul II), Renee Deane (Cape Coral, Fla./ Cape Coral), and Carly Landini (Newark, Del./ Archmere Academy).
Dynamic Duo: The duo of juniors Sam Pinchoff (Sylvan Lake, Mich./ West Bloomfield) and Liz Rossi (Flanders, NY/ Bishop McGann-Mercy) helped the Mount to their 12-8 record last year. Pinchoff played No.1 singles and finished up with 9-13 record, and Rossi posted an 11-7 record in the No. 5 spot.
Up Next: The women will face Rider on Sunday, October 21. The match with the Broncs will take place in Emmitsburg, starting at 12:00 PM.
