Women's Tennis Rolls Past Shepherd on Tuesday

Shepherdstown, WV (September 25, 2012)-- The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team downed Shepherd 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon. The Mount moves to 1-0 on the young season.

In doubles action, the Mount won all three matches to take an early 3-0 lead. Samantha Pinchoff and Kelly Conroy got the action started by defeating Katelyn Mumaw and Alice D'Alauro 8-1. Carly Landini and Liz Rossi continued their winning ways by downing Brooke Davis and Emily Johnson, 8-0. Senior Renee Deane and sophomore Jenny Smith also won 8-0 over Rachel Harrison and Chloe Raines to complete the sweep.

All six Mountaineers won their singles matches, only dropping three games. Pinchoff defeated Mumaw 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot. Spots two through four all won 6-0, 6-0. Conroy defeated D'Alauro at No. 2, Deane beat Davis at No. 3, and Landini won at No. 4 over Harrison. Rossi won at No. 5 6-0, 6-1 over Raines, while Jennifer Smith won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 over Johnson.

The Mount returns to action this weekend at the George Mason Invitational.
