Women’s Tennis Beat Davenport 5-2 to Finish Their Spring Break Trip

Orlando, Fla.—The women's tennis team defeated the Panthers 5-2 to end their spring break trip. They took an early 1-0, by winning two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.

The tandem of Renee Deane and Carly Landini knocked off Stephanie Fortney and Angelica Woods 8-2 at the No. 2 spot to get things started. Then the team of Liz Rossi and freshman Jennifer Smith defeated Kristi Kuzdal and Kelly Todd, 8-4 at the No. 3 spot to secure the doubles point.
In singles action, the Mount won four of the six matches to roll to victory. Junior Kelly Conroy won in three sets at No. 2 singles over Denise Favela, 6-7 (1-7), 7-5, 6-3. Carly Landini, Liz Rossi, and Lauren Clark each won their singles matches, at No. 4, 5, and 6 respectively. Landini beat Kuzdal 6-1, 6-3; while Rossi beat Woods 7-5, 6-0. Clark defeated Katie VanDerLaan, 6-2, 7-5.
The women return to action March 16, when they face Niagara at 3:00 p.m.
