Women's Tennis Adds Recruit

Mount St. Mary's head women's tennis coach Phil Hammond has announced the signing of Jennifer Smith (Davenport, Wash./Seton Home Study School) to a National Letter of Intent to enroll at Mount St. Mary's University in the fall.

Smith won the 2008 Washington state Girls' Singles tennis title while helping lead her team to the state title as well.  She was named the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Junior Team Tennis Most Valuable player that year while finishing with a perfect 19-0 record.  She also won the District Girls' singles title while winning the 2008 Sportsmanship Award.

"Jennifer will be a positive addition to our women's tennis team as she is a hard worker with a great attitude," said Hammond.

The Mount finished the 2011 season with a 12-8 record and has posted a .500 or better record in each of the past seven seasons
