LORETTO, Pa. – Erin Regan (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) won two events to lead the Mount St. Mary's women's swimming team against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Saturday. The Red Flash downed the Mount, 149-99.
Regan, the 2012 Northeast Conference Rookie of the Meet, won the 200 fly (2:11.47) and the 500 free (5:16.95) in the squad's first dual meet of the year. The sophomore was also a member of the winning 400-free relay team and the third place 200-medley relay.
Junior Cat Coppler (Enfield, Conn./Enrico Fermi) won the 200 IM (2:14.65) while finishing second in the 200 back (2:11.88) and third in the 100 back (1:01.08). Fellow junior Patricia Yam (Placenta, Calif./Rosary) recorded the squad's final first-place standing on the afternoon in the 100 fly (1:02.73).
Mollie Walsh (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) finished second in the 50 free (25.84) and Catherine Sukovich (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) was second in the 100 free (57.78) while Anne Thelen (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) was second in the 100 fly (1:05.89) and freshman Kaitlyn Warner (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) was second in the 200 IM (2:32.70). Freshman Katie Powell (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) placed third in the 200 free (2:07.02).
The 200-medley relay team of Warner, Thelen, Regan and Coppler finished third (1:57.63) while Regan, Walsh, Sukovich and Lena Castro Marquez (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) teamed up to win the 400-free relay (3:56.13).
Mount St. Mary's returns to action when the squad hosts VMI and McDaniel for the first home meet of the year on Oct. 27. First splash is scheduled for 1 p.m.
