Second Half Rally Comes Up Short as Mount Women's Soccer Falls at Wagner, 3-2

Staten Island, N.Y. (October 21, 2012)--Mount St. Mary's saw a second-half rally come up short in a 3-2 loss at Wagner in women's soccer action on Sunday.

Trailing 3-0 at the half, Ragan Cote and Andrea Bujacich scored second half goals to cut the deficit to one, but the Mount (7-9-1, 2-5-1 NEC) was unable to score the game-tying goal.

Cote started the rally when she scored 1:13 into the second half to put the Mount on the scoreboard.  Cote ripped a shot from 15 yards out to the lower right corner of the goal with Kelly Baker picking up an assist on the play.

Senior defender Andrea Bujacich cut the deficit to 3-2 with her first career goal in the 63rd minute.  Bujacich took a pass from Baker off a free kick and scored from 40 yards out.

The Mount put the pressure on late in the game with Brinley Watts and Cote each having a shot denied by Wagner goalkeeper Maureen Vetter in the final 1:13 of play.

The Seahawks (5-12, 2-6 NEC) dominated play in the opening half, scoring three times while outshooting the Mount 15-to-3 in the period.  Monica Zurich opened the scoring in the 13th minute while Julie Vigiliotti and Siara Kolpon also added first-half goals.

The Mount returns to action on Friday, October 26, with a 4:00 p.m. home game against Bryant at Waldron Family Stadium on campus.
