Emmitsburg, Md. (October 7, 2012)--Mount St. Mary's battled Sacred Heart to a 0-0 draw in a Northeast Conference women's soccer game at Waldron Family Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Each team had several good scoring chance in the game with Sacred Heart hitting the post twice and the crossbar once in the first half.
Sacred Heart's Marissa Christy hit the cross bar with a shot in the opening minute of the game while Kristen Verrette hit the left post with a shot in the 14th minute.
The Mount (7-5-1, 2-1-1 NEC) had its best scoring chance in the 73rd minute when Ragan Cote broke in on goal, but saw her shot denied by Sacred Heart goalkeeper Sydney Judkins.
Sacred Heart (5-7-1, 2-2-1 NEC) had four shots in the overtime periods while the Mount had four corner kicks and a pair of shots.
For the game, Sacred Heart outshot the Mount, 17-12, with the Mountaineers holding a 9-to-5 edge in corner kicks.
Vicky Cocozza made three saves in the second half and overtimes for the Mount while Rachel Bourne made a pair of saves in the opening half. It is the second consecutive combined shutout for the pair of freshmen goalkeepers, who have split playing time in each of the Mount's 13 games. Judkins made three saves for the Pioneers.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action next Friday with a NEC game at Central Connecticut State.
