Mount Women's Soccer Hosts Fairleigh Dickinson and Navy This Weekend
Mount Update: Jackie Corley scored all three goals to lead the Mount to a 3-1 win at Delaware State on Sunday afternoon. It was the first hat trick by a Mount player since 2005 and lifted the Mount's record to 5-4 on the year. The Mountaineers lost to Saint Francis (Pa.), 3-0, on the road in the team's Northeast Conference opener last Friday.
About the Knights: Fairleigh Dickinson is 3-5-3 overall and 0-2 in the Northeast Conference this season. The Knights opened Northeast Conference play with a pair of 1-0 losses last weekend, falling to Quinnipiac on the road and Sacred Heart at home. The Knights are led by Rachel Hoekstra, who has five goals and one assist for 11 points this season. Sage Dovale has played every minute in goal this year for the Knights, posting a 0.86 goals against average, 33 saves and three shutouts. FDU has lost three consecutive 1-0 games after back-to-back wins against Lafayette and NJIT.
The All-Time Series with Fairleigh Dickinson: Fairleigh Dickinson holds a 7-4-1 lead in the all-time series that began in 2000. The Mountaineers, however, have won two of the past three matchups, including a 2-1 victory at FDU last year. The Knights, however, have won the past two meetings at Waldron Family Stadium, 1-0 victories in 2008 and 2010.

Last Year's Meeting: Jackie Corley had a goal and an assist to lead Mount St. Mary's to a 2-1 win over Fairleigh Dickinson last season. With the score tied at 1-1 early in the second half, Corley dribbled into the box from the wide right side, and put her shot into the top left corner of the goal to give the Mount a 2-1 lead. In the first half, Fairleigh Dickinson's Rashidah Sherman converted a cross in the 16th minute to give the Knights a 1-0 advantage. The lead was short-lived, however, as the Mount) got the equalizing goal just 30 seconds later. Corley crossed the ball to Sadie Winship, who was able to tally her team-leading third goal of the season. Goalkeeper Alicia Miller made seven saves to earn the victory as the Mountaineers held a 17-to-15 edge in shots in the game. Stephanie Tanzi made four saves for FDU in the loss.
About the Midshipmen: Navy enters Friday's game with American on an 11-game win streak and is 11-1-0 this season. The Midshipmen defeated Howard, 3-0, in their last game. Ashlynn Soellner leads the team with nine goals and three assists for 21 points while Morgan Dankanich has seven goals and three assists for 17 points. Paloma Perez leads the team with six assists. Navy is averaging 3.0 goals per game and has outscored its opponents 36-to-14. Elizabeth Hoerner has started 10 games in goal and has a 1.56 goals against average and 43 saves.
The All-Time Series with Navy: Navy holds an 11-0 lead in the all-time series that began in 1995. The Midshipmen defeated the Mount, 1-0, on August 27, 2010, in the last meeting between the teams. Navy defeated the Mount, 4-1, on September 20, 2009, the last time the teams met at Waldron Family Stadium.

Last Meeting: Ashlynn Soellner's header off a corner kick with 5:27 left in the game lifted Navy to a 1-0 win over the Mount in the last meeting between the two squads. Navy held a 10-to-5 edge in shots in the game, including a 7-to-1 margin in the second half. Alicia Miller made three saves for the Mount in the game.
Corley's Nets Hat Trick: Jackie Corley scored all three goals in the Mount's 3-1 win at Delaware State on Sunday, becoming the first Mount player to record a hat trick since 2005. The last Mount player to score three or more goals in a game was Karyn Farrar, who scored four times in a 5-1 win over Saint Peter's on September 18, 2005. Corley's hat trick was the seventh in program history. Robin Covaleski (1996-99), with two hat tricks, is the only Mount player with more than one career hat trick.
Celebrating 20 Years of Mount Soccer: The Mount will be celebrating 20 years of women's soccer history this season. The Mount will have an alumni game on Sunday, September 30, at 10 am and will honor a 20th Anniversary Team at halftime of the 1:00 p.m. game against Navy that day.
The Offense: The Mount offense has been superb this year with 17 goals over the first nine games. The 17 goals already surpass last year's season total of 13 goals. The Mount leads the Northeast Conference in goals per game (1.89), points (51) and assists (17) while the team is second in total goals (17). The Mount has scored four goals in a game three times this year. The last time the Mount had three four-goal games during the year was 2003, when the Mountaineers had five.
Good Start to the Season: The Mount has matched the best nine-game start to a season with its 5-4 record this year. The 1996 team also started the year with a 5-4 record. No Mount team has ever held a winning record after the first 10 games of the year.
Multiple-Goal Games: The Mount has had a player score two or more goals in a game five times this year. That is the most multiple-goal games by Mount players since the 1994 team had seven. Jackie Corley posted a hat trick against Delaware state while Kelly Baker has scored two goals in a game twice this year (Towson, VMI). Alicia Mirando (Howard) and Ragan Cote (Saint Peter's) each have a two-goal game. Baker now has three career multiple-goal games, just one shy of the Mount's all-time mark of four, held by Robin Covaleski, Carole Fournier and Christy Wicks.
The Mount vs. Ranked Opponents: The Mount is now 0-3 all-time against a ranked opponent after the 4-0 loss to No. 13 Virginia Tech on August 31. In the two other matchups with ranked teams, the Mount fell to No. 15 Villanova (6-0 in 2002) and No. 20 Maryland (2-0 in 2001. In 2002, the Mountaineers lost to No. 15 Villanova, 6-0.
Baker Moving Up Career Lists: Senior Kelly Baker leads the Mount with nine points (4g, 1a) this season, giving her 29 career points in a Mount uniform. She is tied for ninth all-time in career scoring with Kelli Devine (2004-07) and is three points shy of Mary Coulby Adelsberger (1999-01, 03) and Carole Fournier (1992-94) for seventh place. Baker's 12 career are tied for ninth in on the Mount's all-time list.
Season Openers: The Mount won a season-opener for the second consecutive season with a 4-1 victory over Towson. The Mount is now 3-18 all-time in season-opening games.
Youth Will Be Served: The 2012 Mount women's soccer roster features 11 new players, including 10 freshmen. Overall, 17 of the Mount's 24 players are freshmen or sophomores.
Preseason Poll: The Mount was picked to finish 11th in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches poll.
