Dover, Del. (September 23, 2012)--Junior Jackie Corley's hat trick lifted the Mount St. Mary's women's soccer team to a 3-1 win at Delaware State on Sunday afternoon. She is the first Mountaineer to record a hat trick since 2005.
Corley opened the scoring when she drove a shot from 30 yards out that went off the keeper's hands into the top part of the net. Kelly Baker was credited with the assist on the play.
Corley made it 2-0 when she buried a shot to the top right corner from 20 yards out with 1:45 left in the opening half. Keriann McGettigan picked up the assist on the goal.
The Hornets (0-7-1) got back in the game on Chelsea Boursiquot beat Vicky Cocozza in the 58th minute, but Corley answered that goal seven minutes later to complete her hat trick. Ragan Cote started the play on the Corley's third goal to pick up an assist.
Corley is the first Mount player to post a hat trick since Karyn Farrar scored four goals against Saint Peter's on September 18, 2005. It is the seventh hat trick in program history.
The Mount (5-4) outshot Delaware State, 13-6, in the game, including by a 9-2 margin in the first half. Rachel Bourne started in goal, not allowing a goal in the first half while Cocozza played the second half, making one save.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Friday, September 28, when Fairleigh Dickinson visits Waldron Family Stadium on campus for a 4:00 p.m. game.
Game Notes: The Mount is 4-0 all-time against Delaware State, outscoring the Hornets 32-1 in those games...The Mount's 5-4 record is just the second time in program history the team has had a winning record after nine games...The 1996 team also started the year with a 5-4 mark.
