Women's Soccer Hosts Robert Morris on Friday; Heads to Saint Francis (Pa.) on Sunday

Mount Update: The Mount opened Northeast Conference play with a 1-1 tie with Monmouth on Tuesday night at the Waldron Family Stadium on campus. Kelly Baker scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season early in the second half to give the Mount the lead. Monmouth got the equalizing goal with just under two minutes left in regulation. The Mount held a 16-to-11 advantage in shots in the game while goalkeeper Alicia Miller had two saves in the game.

Robert Morris Update: Robert Morris dropped its Northeast Conference opener to Saint Francis (Pa.), 4-1, last Sunday. The Red Flash took a 4-0 lead before Robert Morris got on the scoreboard when Rachel Sebbens converted a Brianna Bell cross with five minutes left. Ayana Davis leads Robert Morris with four goals and eight points while Jess Sharik and Katie Austin each have six points (2g, 2a). In goal, Jessica Olin has started nine of the team's 10 games, posting a 2.10 goals against average and 62 saves.

The All-Time Series with Robert Morris: The Mount holds an 11-6-2 lead in the all-time series that dates back to 1992, but the Colonials have captured the past three matchups. Last season, Robert Morris edged the Mount, 1-0, in Moon Township, Pa. The Mount's last win against Robert Morris was a 3-0 victory on October 15, 2006, at home.

Last Year's Meeting...Ayana Davis scored in the 78th minute to lift Robert Morris to a 1-0 win over the Mount in Moon Township, Pa., last season. The Mount looked to have taken an early first-half lead when Emily Menotti scored in the 22nd minute, but Menotti was ruled offside and the goal was waved off. Menotti had a breakaway chance in the 70th minute, but that opportunity was denied by RMU goalkeeper Jessica Olin. Alicia Miller made four saves for the Mount in the game while Olin had five stops.

Saint Francis (Pa.) Update: The Red Flash have won four straight games and are 5-0-1 over the past six contests heading into Friday's game at Monmouth. Saint Francis (Pa.) is 7-2-1 on the year, including a perfect 4-0-0 at home. The Red Flash are coming off a 4-1 win at Robert Morris on Sunday. Tesa McKibben scored a pair of second-half goals while Barbara Maros de Carvalho had three assists in the win. Codi Bixler and Stephanie Boulter each scored first-half goals for the Red Flash. McKibben leads the Red Flash with seven goals and five assists for 19 points while Maros de Carvalho has three goals and nine assists for 15 points. Brianna Butcher (1.41 GAA) and Lauren Fearer (0.43 GAA) have split time in goal for Saint Francis (Pa.).

The All-Time Series with Saint Francis (Pa.): Saint Francis (Pa.) holds a 10-9-1 lead in the all-time series that dates back to 1992. The Mount defeated Saint Francis, 1-0, at home last year to snap a four-game losing streak in the series. The Mount's last win in Loretto was a 1-0 victory on September 10, 2002.

Last Year's Meeting...Emily Menotti scored in the 60th minute to lead the Mount to a 1-0 win over Saint Francis (Pa.) last year at Waldron Family Stadium. Menotti chipped in a long pass from Meghamn Brennan for the only goal of the game. The Mount outshot the Red Flash 17-to-3 in the game, including 11-to-0 in the second half. Alicia Miller made one save for the shutout victory while Jessica Boyer made six saves for Saint Francis.

NEC Play Starts...The Mount's opened its 16th season in the Northeast Conference with a 1-1 tie against Monmouth on Tuesday. The Mountaineers are 40-77-12 all-time in NEC games, including a 27-32-8 mark at home. The Mount went 4-5-1 in the league last year, the most league wins by a Mount team since 2002.

Miller Standing Tall in Goal...Goalkeeper Alicia Miller has been solid in goal for the Mount this year, posting a 0.86 goals against average and a .808 save percentage while starting all 10 games. Miller has three shutouts on the year, just one shy of matching the single-season record shared by Tonia Bruno (1995) and Anna Lebo (2007). Miller has moved into a tie for second place on the Mount's all-time saves list with 283. She is sixth all-time at the Mount with a .755 save percentage while her 2.10 goals against average is fifth.

Defense Shining...The Mount has been impressive on the defensive end this year, allowing 10 goals over the first 10 games (1.00/game). Goalkeeper Alicia Miller has posted three shutouts while the Mount has given up one or zero goals in nine of the 10 games played. The 10 goals allowed is the fewest by a Mount team over the first 10 games in school history. The Mount gave up 11 goals over the first 10 games of the 2003 season.

Quite a Turnaround...After scoring just four goals in just under 742 minutes to start the season, the Mountaineers exploded for three goals in a span of nine minutes and 11 seconds against Bucknell on Sept. 24.

PK's...Freshman Jackie Corley drew a foul in the penalty box against Towson to give the Mount its first penalty kick during head coach Tom Gosselin's tenure at the Mount. The Mount's last PK came against Fairleigh Dickinson on Oct. 1, 2006. The Mount's last successful penalty kick was scored by Devine on Sept. 16, 2005, against East Tennessee State.

Home Field Advantage...One of the goals for head coach Tom Gosselin this season was to establish a home field advantage. The Mount is 2-0-3 this year at Waldron Family Stadium after struggling at home since the facility opened in 2006. All-time, the Mount is 8-22-3 at Waldron Family Stadium.

Non-conference Action...The Mount has completed its non-conference portion of the schedule. The Mountaineers are 8-26-3 in non-conference games under head coach Tom Gosselin, but are 5-7-3 over the past 15 non-conference games, including a 3-4-2 mark this year.

Preseason Poll...The Mount was picked to finish ninth in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. Defending champion Monmouth was tabbed as the league favorite, followed by Central Connecticut State, Long Island, Quinnipiac, Saint Francis (Pa.), Sacred Heart, Robert Morris, Bryant, the Mount, Fairleigh Dickinson and Wagner.

Road Happy...After posting a 4-3-2 record on the road last year, the Mount got its first road win of the season at Bucknell on Wednesday. Last year's 4-3-2 mark on the road was the first time in school history the team has posted a winning season in away games. Under head coach Tom Gosselin, the Mount has won nine road games in three-plus years. Over the previous 15 years since the program began in 1992, the Mount won a combined 19 games on the road.

Collegiate Firsts...Freshman Jackie Corley scored her first collegiate goal in the Mount's 3-0 win over Bucknell on Sept. 22. She joins freshman Keriann McGettigan, who scored game-winning goal vs. Towson on Sept. 7. Freshmen Ragan Cote and Kate Murphy recorded assists on Kelly Baker's goal in the Mounts' 1-1 tie with George Mason on Aug. 31 for their first collegiate points for each player. Senior Kaitlyn Chambers has recorded a pair of assists this year on corner kicks for her first two collegiate points.
