Women's Soccer Hosts VMI on Friday Night

Mount Update: Mount St. Mary's tied George Mason, 1-1, on Tuesday night in the home opener at Waldron Family Stadium. Kelly Baker scored in the 38th minute to give the Mount a 1-0 lead at the half. Goalkeeper Alicia Miller made four saves, including a game-saving stop in the first overtime. Jourdan Brill almost gave the Mount the win in the second overtime, but her shot caromed off the crossbar. Freshmen Kate Murphy and Ragan Cote each recorded their first collegiate point with assists on Baker's goal.

VMI Update: VMI lost to Longwood, 4-0, on Tuesday night to fall to 0-3 on the year. Longwood converted three penalty kicks in the game en route to the win. Angela Redmond made five saves in the loss while the Keydets were outshot 17-to-3 in the game. Redmond has a 4.69 GAA and 18 saves in three games this year. Amanda Berrios has scored VMI's lone goal this year.

The All-Time Series with VMI: This will be the first-ever meeting between the Mount and VMI.

What a Difference a Year Makes...The Mount opened the season against Navy (L, 1-0) and George Mason (T, 1-1), who each appeared on the schedule last year. In 2009, the Mount lost to those two schools by a combined score of 10-1.

Schedule Change: The starting time for the Mount's home game against Robert Morris on Friday, October 1, has been moved to 5:00 p.m. The game had originally been slated to start at 4:00 p.m.

Non-conference Action: The Mount is 5-23-2 in non-conference games under head coach Tom Gosselin. The Mount, however, is 2-4-2 over its past eight non-conference games, including 0-1-1 this year.

Preseason Poll: The Mount was picked to finish ninth in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. Defending champion Monmouth was tabbed as the league favorite, followed by Central Connecticut State, Long Island, Quinnipiac, Saint Francis (Pa.), Sacred Heart, Robert Morris, Bryant, the Mount, Fairleigh Dickinson and Wagner.

Miller Moves Up to Fourth on All-Time Saves List: Junior goalkeeper Alicia Miller has made a name for herself in the Mount's record books. Miller's four saves on Tuesday vs. George Mason gives her 252 for her career, moving her into fourth on the all-time list ahead of Margaret Pyzik (251, 2001-04) and Nicki Trumpler (250, 1995-98). Miller is sixth all-time with a .748 save percentage and seventh with a 2.39 GAA. She also holds the single-season record for saves with 128 in 2008.

Road Happy: The Mount went 4-3-2 on the road last year, the first time in school history the team has posted a winning season in away games. Under head coach Tom Gosselin, the Mount has won eight road games in three years. Over the previous 15 years since the program began in 1992, the Mount won a combined 19 games on the road.

Home Sweet Home???: The Mount will be trying to improve its home record this season. The team has compiled a 6-22-1 record at Waldron Family Stadium since the facility opened in 2006. The Mount opened the home season with a 1-1 tie with George Mason on Tuesday.

Collegiate Firsts: Freshmen Ragan Cote and Kate Murphy had assists on Kelly Baker's goal in the Mounts' 1-1 tie with George Mason. The assists are the first collegiate points for each player.
