Women's Lacrosse Loses at Columbia on Saturday Afternoon

New York, N.Y. (February 23, 2013)--Mount St. Mary's lost at Columbia, 15-4, on Saturday afternoon in women's lacrosse action.  The Mount had four different players score in the game.

Columbia took an early 1-0 lead on a Kelly Buechel goal 2:28 into the game, but the Mount's Erin Seipp answered just under three minutes later to even the score.

The Lions (1-0), however, scored six times in the final 15 minutes of the first half to take a 7-1 lead at the half.  Sarah Jane Leder, who tied a school record with 22 saves in her last game, made seven saves in the opening half for the Mountaineers.

Lindsay Diaz opened the scoring in the second half to make it 7-2, but Columbia scored five consecutive goals to stretch the lead to 12-2.  Kaitlyn Larrimore stopped the run with her fourth goal of the year.  Aubrey Rubino scored in the final minute for the Mount to round out the scoring.

The Mount (0-3) returns to action on Saturday, March 2nd, at Virginia Tech.
