Semler Named To Synapse Sports Weekly Honor Roll

EMMITSBURG, Md. - Jen Semler (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall), a member of the Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse team, has been named to the Synapse Sports Honor Roll for the week of Mar. 29-Apr. 4. It marks the fifth time in program history a Mount player has received recognition from the website formerly known as womenslacrosse.com.

Semler posted seven goals and two assists for nine points in the week to help the Mount win a pair of Northeast Conference (NEC) games. The junior posted a hat trick in a 10-6 win against Long Island on Friday and four goals and two assists for a career-high six points in a 13-4 win against Wagner on Sunday. Semler converted a free-position attempt at 37:56 to give the Mountaineers the lead for good against the Blackbirds while also finding the twine at 44:38 and 55:50. In the second half against the Seahawks, the junior had a hand in the Mount's first four goals in the second half after scoring the first two markers in the stanza at 34:35 and 38:08 before handing out an assist at 38:59 and capping a 4-0 run with her fourth goal of the afternoon at 53:11.

Semler has 25 goals and seven assists for 32 points this season, including 15 goals and three assists for 18 points in four league games. She ranks 10th overall in the NEC in goals per game (2.08) while fueling the circuit for goals per game (3.75) and points per game (4.50) in league games. Semler has posted at least three goals in six of her last eight games, including a career-high four tallies in three of the last four matches. The junior has 34 goals and nine assists for 43 points in her career.

Semler is the second member of the Mount St. Mary's team to be honored this week after junior goalkeeper Brigid McTavish (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) was named the NEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week. McTavish anchored a suffocating Mountaineer defense, allowing just nine goals while posting a 4.77 goals against average and .591 save percentage.

Semler becomes the first Mount St. Mary's player to be honored by the website since Caitlin Preas was named Womenslacrosse.com National Player of the Week on Apr. 16, 2007. Katie Mason (May, 3, 2004), Naomi Campano Radio (Apr. 25, 2005) and Kirby Day (May 3, 2005) were also named to the Womenslacrosse.com Honor Roll in their career.

Mount St. Mary's (5-7, 4-0 NEC) has opened the NEC slate 4-0 for the fifth time in program history and the first since 2009. The Mount concludes a three-game homestand against Monmouth under the lights at Waldron Family Stadium on Friday. Game time is 7 p.m.
