Women’s Bowling Posts 8-1 Record, Finishes Runner-Up at Inaugural Mount Shootout

Waynesboro, Pa. (October 21, 2018) – The Mount St. Mary's women's bowling team posted an 8-1 record and finished runner-up at the Inaugural Mount Shootout this weekend at Sunshine Lanes. Rebecca Dodson and Ashley Santos were named to the all-tournament team as the Mountaineers were the only squad that had multiple players earn the honor.

Dodson posted a traditional average of 202.60 and Santos averaged a 202 on Saturday, as the duo recorded the third and fourth-highest traditional averages among all players in the field. On Sunday, Dodson led the Mountaineers with a baker average of 21.06, and Tamera Stanton registered a 19.27.

"I am beyond proud of the way our ladies competed all weekend long," said Head Coach Kenneth DeGraaf. "We fell a bit short of the championship when we could not match a red-hot Saint Francis U, but even in defeat we saw that we can go toe-to-toe with the best in the country. Having next weekend off will be much needed as it gives us a couple weeks to address our weaknesses ahead of the VU Invite. A 17-2 record and two trophy finishes in our first two weeks as a Division I program is nothing to hang our head on."

After a perfect 5-0 record on Saturday, the Mount followed it up with wins over Mount Aloysius and Felician in baker matches to open up Sunday.
