October 18, 2018 – Mount St. Mary's women's bowling freshman Tamera Stanton has been named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week.
Stanton helped lead the team to a historic start as the Mount opened its inaugural season at the Bud Whitman Memorial this past weekend. Stanton and the Mountaineers went undefeated on the first day and took down a pair of nationally-ranked teams on their way to capturing the tournament crown. The Mount then posted a 4-1 record on day two to finish at 9-1 overall during the two-day stretch, marking the best record by any team in the field.
Stanton was pivotal to the Mount's success at the tournament, registering a baker frame average of 20.14 on Saturday, which was the second-highest among all players. The rookie followed it up with a 177.80 traditional average on Sunday to help the Mount close out strong.
The Mountaineers are back in action this weekend for their first home tournament in program history, the Mount Shootout, on October 20 and 21 at Sunshine Lanes in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania.
