Women's Basketball Ends 2012 With Home Game Against American On Sunday
opening tip... Sunday's game between Mount St. Mary's and American marks the 14th meeting in the all-time series dating back to the 1978-79 season.
• The Eagles have won the last five meetings to take an 8-5 advantage in the series.
• American downed the Mountaineers 77-62 last season in the nation's capitol while the Mount's last win in the series was a 63-56 decision on Dec. 31, 2005.
about the eagles... American comes into the contest 6-5 after defeating Drexel 58-52 on Friday.
• Junior G Alexis Dobbs paced the Eagles with 17 points against the Dragons. The junior has posted double figures in seven of her last eight games, including 18 points in an 85-57 win against UMBC on Nov. 27. Dobbs ranks second on the team with 12.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.
• Sophomore G Jen Dumiak added 12 points against Drexel. Dumiak has registered double digits in nine of the 11 games this season and has three 20-point performances to her credit. Her last 20-point games was when she scored 21 points against the Retrievers. The sophomore paces the squad with 14.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.
• Redshirt junior G Geleisha George is third on the team with 8.4 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. George has reached double digit in points on three occasions in 2012-13, including 13 points against Maryland on Nov. 21.
last time we met... American defeated Mount St. Mary's 77-62 on Nov. 18, 2011. Sydney Henderson paced the Mount with 18 points. Sandra Andresson added 13 points and Rachel Mathews notched 10 points. Selina Mann notched her third career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Ashley Christie hauled in a career-high 10 boards in the loss. Lisa Strack paced the Eagles with 24 points. Ti'Aisha McGeorge added 15 points and Tori Halvorsen chipped in 11 points.
a patriot league schedule... Mount St. Mary's is playing four of the eight teams in the Patriot League.
• The Mount concludes its non-conference slate at home against Patriot League members American on Sunday and Lehigh on Wednesday.
• The Mountaineers defeated the two-time Patriot League Tournament champion and preseason favorite Navy 53-45 on Dec. 8 and fell 55-43 at Bucknell on Nov. 28.
• American finished second in the Patriot League preseason poll to the Midshipmen.
• The Mount will be playing Lehigh for the first time since a thrilling 86-83 loss at the hands of the Mountain Hawks on Dec. 31, 2004.
• After the game against Lehigh, head coach Bryan Whitten will have faced six of the eight teams in the Patriot League. Whitten is 5-5 all-time against the league. Army and Holy Cross are the only two teams from the league the Mount has not faced under Whitten.

• Junior Jessie Kaufman paced the Mount with 11 points and six rebounds. The junior has scored double figures in five of her last seven games and is averaging 11.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game in that stretch.
• Redshirt sophomore Jacqueline Brewer added nine points. Brewer has started the last four games and is averaging 10.3 points and 3.3 rebounds in that stretch. The Mount is 3-1 with Brewer in the starting lineup.
• Senior Selina Mann recorded eight points against the Panthers. Mann, who is averaging 10.3 points and 4.0 rebounds in her last four games, needs two steals to move fourth place on the program's all-time career steal list (279).
• Freshman Jayla Leftwich made her collegiate debut with 57 seconds left and notched her first career points on a layup with 33 seconds remaining in the contest.

sunday's may not be just for football anymore... Mount St. Mary's will be playing on Sunday for the second time this season and the first since defeating Seton Hall 74-64 on Dec. 16 for the squad's first-ever win against the Big East and a BCS program.
• Prior to the win against the Pirates, the Mountaineers were 0-7 on Sunday under head coach Bryan Whitten.
• In the contest against Seton Hall, the Mount tied a program record with 13 made 3-pointers in the game.
• The Mountaineers shot 48.9 percent from the floor after going 23-for-47 against the Pirates. It was the best shooting performance as a team since shooting 50.9 percent against Quinnipiac on Jan. 30, 2010.
nice hometown moment... Freshman Jayla Leftwich had missed the first eight games of the season due to an injury, but was able to make her collegiate debut in her hometown of Pittsburgh on Dec. 20.
• Leftwich entered in the final minute and made a nice move off a screen for her first collegiate points on a layup with 33 seconds left.
in the league... Mount St. Mary's leads the Northeast Conference in free throw percentage (.800).
• The Mount is also in the top half of the statistics for assist-to-turnover ratio (3rd, 0.72), 3-point field goals made (3rd, 6.00), turnover margin (4th, +0.67) and 3-point field goal percentage (4th, .312).
• Redshirt junior Sydney Henderson leads the NEC in minutes played (38.78) while ranking third in 3-point field goals made (2.22), sixth in defensive rebounds (5.11), sixth in free throw percentage (.788), eighth in scoring (15.0 ppg.) and ninth in rebounding (6.9).
• Senior Selina Mann is fourth in the circuit in free throw percentage (.848), fifth in steals (3.22), sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.03), ninth in assists (3.33) and ninth in minutes played (33.67).

• Kaufman notched a season-high 24 points against Campbell on Nov. 19 and a career-high 10 rebounds against Navy on Dec. 8. The junior has recorded double figures in points in two of three games and also has eight or more rebounds in two home games this year.
• Redshirt junior Sydney Henderson ranks second on the team at home with 9.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Henderson has recorded double figures in points in her last two tilts and has grabbed six rebounds in all three games at Knott Arena, including tallying 13 points and 12 rebounds versus UMES on Dec. 5.
• Senior Selina Mann is averaging 9.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game at Knott Arena. Mann registered 20 points and nine rebounds against UMES.
• The Mount has won its last two games at Knott Arena and is 2-1 at home this season. The squad is averaging 54.3 points per game and shooting .356 at home this season while allowing 52.3 points per game to the opponents with a .352 shooting percentage at home.

• Henderson has reached double-figures in four of her last five games, including 27 points at Seton Hall on Dec. 16. The junior has also hauled in at least six rebounds in three of her last five games, including two double-digit rebound games in that stretch.
• Junior Jessie Kaufman ranks second with 9.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in that span. Kaufman has three 10+ games in her last five games, including 16 points at Seton Hall.

henderson does it again... Redshirt junior Sydney Henderson was named the Northeast Conference/Choice Hotels Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 10-16.
• Henderson was instrumental in the Mount's 74-64 victory against Seton Hall after tallying 27 points and 10 rebounds against the Big East program on Sunday. The redshirt junior went 8-for-11 from the floor, 6 of 7 from behind the arc and 5 of 7 from the free throw line in the victory. It was her second double-double of the season and the third of her career.
• It marked the first time a Mount player has won the award twice in the same season since Kia Williams in 2000-01.
iron women... Redshirt junior Sydney Henderson has played in 349 of the team's 360 minutes this season.
• Henderson has played all 40 minutes six times this season and has played 318 of the last 320 minutes.
• The redshirt junior sat for nine minutes against Maryland in the season opener on Nov. 9 and one minute against Howard on Nov. 25 and one minute against Pittsburgh on Dec. 20.
• Henderson has played 40 minutes nine times in her career.
• Senior Selina Mann has played 40 minutes once this season and at least 35 minutes six times this season.
• Mann has played 40 minutes in a game 18 times in her career.
realignment schedule... Mount St. Mary's now has five opponents on its schedule that will be switching conferences in the near future thanks to the conference realignment shakeup.
• Current Atlantic Coast Conference member Maryland will be headed to the Big Ten while the Big East's Pittsburgh will be going to the ACC.
• Seton Hall recently announced that it will be leaving the Big East with the Catholic Seven and Northeast Conference members Monmouth and Quinnipiac are set to join the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference next season.
guard up... Mount St. Mary's has been led by its guard play on the boards for the last two seasons.
• Senior Selina Mann paced the Mount with 5.0 rebounds per game last season and is second on the team in caroms with 4.8 rebounds per game this season.
• Redshirt junior Sydney Henderson leads the team with 6.9 rebounds per game and has grabbed at least seven rebounds five times this season.
• The duo has combined for seven double-doubles in their career and are the only players on the roster to notch the trick.
• The last time a forward had a double-double on the team was Mary Dunn (18 points, 12 rebounds) against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Jan. 10, 2011.
ain't the brew cold... Redshirt sophomore Jacqueline Brewer was averaging 2.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per game in 49 minutes in the first five games of the season.
• Brewer entered the starting lineup for the last four games and is averaging 10.3 points, 33 rebounds per game in that stretch.
• Brewer has scored at least eight points in all four starts, including a career-high 16 points against Navy on Dec. 8.
• Brewer, a transfer from Virginia Commonwealth, sat out last season due to NCAA Division I transfer regulations, but has surpassed her Rams career highs in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks in her last two games.
barclays history... The Mount's game at LIU Brooklyn has been moved to the brand new Barclays Center on Jan. 12. The game has been moved to a 12 p.m. start time.
• It will be the first women's basketball game ever played at the NBA home of the Brooklyn Nets.
looking to a lead at the break... Mount St. Mary's has only held the lead or gone into halftime tied twice this season and has trailed at the break in the other seven contests.
• The only game the Mount held the advantage going into the locker room was a 37-30 edge against Seton Hall on Dec. 16.
• The squad was even against UMES on Dec. 5.
• Mount St. Mary's is 2-0 when it is either tied or has the lead at halftime and 2-5 this season when it trails at the break.
• The Mountaineers trailed by three points against Navy on Dec. 8 and by six points or more in the other six contests.

the first time henderson was honored... Redshirt junior Sydney Henderson was named the Northeast Conference Choice Hotels Co-Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 12-18. It is the redshirt junior's first conference honor.
• Henderson posted a career-high 30 points and scored the game-winning basket with 42 seconds left to lift the Mount past Rider 70-67 on Nov. 16. The redshirt junior shot 9-for-15 from the floor, 6 of 8 from behind the arc and 6 of 7 from the foul line for her 30 points. She stuffed the stat sheet by adding eight rebounds, four steals and three assists in 40 minutes on her way to career highs in points, field goals, 3-point field goals, free throws, steals and minutes played. Henderson scored nine of the Mount's final 16 points to help the Mountaineers to their first win of the season.

• It was the third time under head coach Bryan Whitten a Mount player has posted 30 points in a game. The squad is 3-0 when a player hits 30 points in a contest.
• Henderson became the first Mount player to post 30 points in a game since current assistant coach Brianna Gauthier scored 32 points against Bryant on Mar. 2, 2009. It was also the first time a Mount player scored 30 points on the road since Dominique Mazzuchi had 30 points against Central Connecticut State on Jan. 12, 2008.
• It also marked the first 30-point performance in non-conference play since Myriam Baccouche had 36 points against Radford on Nov. 21, 2003.
• It is the 29th time in Mount Division I history a Mount player scored 30 points in a game and the 13th different player to accomplish the feat.
a career night... Redshirt junior Sydney Henderson posted a career-high 30 points against Rider on Nov. 16. She established a new career best 10 months to the day after she had a career-high 25 points against Central Connecticut State last season.
• Sophomore Jenn Carney scored a career-high eight points against Campbell on Nov. 16.
• Redshirt sophomore Jacqueline Brewer recorded a career-best 16 points against Navy on Dec. 8.
preseason poll… The Mount St. Mary's women's basketball team has been picked seventh in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Preseason Coaches Poll. Quinnipiac picked up seven of the 12 first-place votes to be tabbed as the preseason favorite. The defending NEC regular season and tournament champions Sacred Heart Pioneers nabbed four first-place votes to finish second in the poll while Monmouth secured the final first-place nod to finish third in the poll. Saint Francis (Pa.), Robert Morris, LIU Brooklyn, the Mount, Central Connecticut State, Bryant, Fairleigh Dickinson, St. Francis Brooklyn and Wagner round out the 12-team poll. Bryant, who just completed its five-year transition to Division I, will be eligible for the NEC Tournament for the first time in 2012-13.
in the non-conference slate... Mount St. Mary's is 83-126 in non-conference games since joining the Northeast Conference in 1989-90.

man oh mann, selina... Mount St. Mary's can pretty much count on getting five from senior Selina Mann every game. The only question is will it be five points, five rebounds, five assists or five steals?
• Mann has posted a five spot in one of those categories in 73 of the 93 games.
• The senior has posted a five spot in two of those categories 24 times; 12 times in three categories and eight times in four different categories.
• She has scored five points 50 times in her career, including 18 two-digit performances and a pair of 20-point performances.
• The 5-4 guard has posted five rebounds 34 times in her career, including four 10-board performances.
• Mann has dished out five assists 32 times in her career including a career-high 10 assists against Wagner on Feb. 11, 2012.
• The senior has registered five steals in a game 18 times in her career, including establishing a new program record with 11 steals against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 18, 2012.
• Mann leads the team with four double-doubles. She has two points-rebounds tricks, one points-steals and one rebounds-assists double-double. She is only the third player in Mount Division I history with a double-double that includes steals. The junior recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds against American on Nov. 18.
• The senior is only the second player in team history to record a 10 spot in points, rebounds, assists or steals in a game in her career. Kim Rhock is the only other player to accomplish this feat.

in the league... The Mount is 256-150 in Northeast Conference play, including 147-60 at Knott Arena and 109-90 on the road.
home sweet home... In its 26th season at Knott Arena, Mount St. Mary's has posted a 220-108 overall mark, including 76-46 in non-conference play and 144-62 in league play since moving across Route 15 from Memorial Gym.
in the month... Mount St. Mary's is 112-93 in the month of December in program history. The Mount is 55-26 at home, 45-50 on the road and 12-17 at a neutral site in the month.
• The Mountaineers are 58-83 in December since switching to Division I in 1988-89. The team is 28-22 at Knott Arena, 21-46 on the road and 9-15 at a neutral site.
