April 22, 2017—Natalia Hinton won the long jump, Erin Sample the shot put and Julian Woods the 400m hurdles to lead the Mount St. Mary's track and field teams at the Bucknell Team Challenge on Saturday.
Hinton had a winning jump of 5.74m while Sample's winning mark in the shot put was 13.70m. Both results are qualifying marks for the ECAC Championships. Mariah McLane finished in second place in the 400m dash (57.25), Chelsea Wright third in the high jump (1.58) and Hinton added a third-place finish in the 100m hurdles (14.88).
On the men's side, Woods had a winning time of 52.76 in the 400m hurdles to capture first place. He added a second-place finish in the 110m hurdles (14.50). Justin Kimble was second in the 100m dash (10.90), Benjamin Finnigan third in the 1500m (3:58.50), Josh Poole fourth in the 400m (49.15) and Chris Evans fourth in the 3000m steeplechase (9:46.34).
In the field events, Brenden Chavis was second in the hammer throw (54.71m) with Chase Boyle right behind in third place (54.54m). Chavis also finished third in the discus (46.02m) while Alex Devine was fourth in the shot put (14.57m).
The Mount track teams have a busy week with the Penn Relays and the Saint Francis U Red Flash Open coming up.
