Mount Track and Field Headed to George Mason Spring Invitational on Saturday

April 7, 2017--The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's track and field teams are headed to the George Mason Spring Invitational on Saturday.  The meet, which begins at 10:00 a.m. with the women's hammer throw, will feature more than 35 schools.

The list of teams competing include nearby schools such as Georgetown, American, Johns Hopkins, UMBC and James Madison, as well as Davidson, Fordham, George Washington, Richmond and VCU from the Atlantic 10 Conference and Pittsburgh (ACC) and West Virginia (Big 12), among others.

The Mount track teams competed at High Point's VertKlasse Meeting last weekend with javelin throwers Kelly Yanucil and Brian Sagendorf each finishing in first place.  For a full recap, click HERE.

So far this outdoor season, the Mount has had five student-athletes win Northeast Conference Weekly honors.  Yanucil was the NEC Women's Field Athlete of the Week and Justin Kimble the NEC Men's Rookie of the Week this past week.  The first week of the season, the Mount swept the men's awards with Julian Woods (Track), Sagendorf (Field) and Matthew Selba (Rookie) completing the sweep.
