Emmitsburg, Md. (March 28, 2017)--The Mount St. Mary's men's outdoor track and field team swept the weekly Northeast Conference awards this week. Julian Woods (Sykesville, Md.) was named the NEC Track Athlete of the Week, Brian Sagendorf (Elizabeth, N.J.) the NEC Field Athlete of the Week, and Matthew Selba (Baltimore, Md.) the NEC Rookie of the Week.
Woods started the outdoor season off strong, winning both the 110m and 400m hurdles at the Bob Davidson Spring Kick-Off hosted by High Point University on March 18-19. He won the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.27 seconds after posting the top qualifying time in the preliminaries. Woods added first place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.98 seconds. Both of his winning times are IC4A qualifying marks.
Sagendorf also had a big start to the season by winning the javelin at the Bob Davidson Spring Kick-Off with a mark of 62.69m to earn a spot at the IC4A Championships. That is the top spot in the NEC by nearly seven meters this season.
Selba finished fifth in the discus with an IC4A qualifying mark of 48.02m in the discus at the Bob Davidson Spring Kick-Off. That mark is second in the NEC this season.
