EMMITSBURG, Md. - Duquesne defeated Mount St. Mary's 149-105 in non-conference women's swimming action on Saturday.
Cat Coppler (Enfield, Conn./Enrico Fermi) paced the Mount with two first-place finishes and a second-place standing on the afternoon. The junior won the 200 free (2:11.05) and the 50 free (28.09) before finishing second in the 100 free (1:00.04).
Courtney Griffith (Westminster, Md./Westminster) won the 100 back (1:08.48) and finished second in the 200 back (2:31.22) and the 100 fly (1:07.36) while Erin Regan (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) placed second in the 200 fly (2:28.05) and the 400 free (4:41.85). Mollie Walsh (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) was second in the 50 free (28.10).
With the Dukes exhibitioning the final two events, Amanda Malmstrom (Silver Spring, Md./Owen J. Roberts) won the 200 IM (2:44.55) and Victoria Shaw (Malvern, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) placed second in the event (2:52.70).
Coppler, Walsh, Anne Thelen (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) and Regan teamed up to win the final event in the 400-free relay (4:10.15) while Griffith, Thelen, Walsh and Regan placed second in the 200-medley relay (2:05.00).
The event was the Mount's first event since the tri-meet against James Madison and Radford on Dec. 1. After the meet against Duquesne, the Mount will have two meets remaining before the Northeast Conference Championships.
