RADFORD, Va. – Cat Coppler (Enfield, Conn./Enrico Fermi) recorded two second-place finishes to pace the Mount St. Mary's women's swimming team to a fourth-place standing after the second day of the Radford Invitational on Saturday.
Coppler finished second in the 200 free (1:55.48) and second in the 100 back (59.52). The junior also swam in the second-place 800-free relay (7:53.93). Erin Regan (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) opened the relay before Coppler, Courtney Griffith (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and Katie Powell (Sewall, N.J./Washington Township) finished up the last event of the night.
Griffith, who is swimming in her first meet of the year, placed third in the 100 back (59.57) and ninth in the 100 fly (58.34). Regan notched her third Top-6 finish in two days with a third-place standing in the 100 fly (58.18).
Anne Thelen (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) was 12th in the 100 breast (1:11.38) and 15th in the 100 fly (1:01.62) while Mollie Walsh (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) finished 12th in the 100 fly (1:00.64) and 15th in the 100 back (1:03.82). Patricia Yam (Manila, Philippines/Rosary) placed 11th in the 100 back (1:01.57) and Powell finished 14th in the 200 free (2:01.46).
The 200-medley relay squad of Coppler, Thelen, Walsh and Griffith finished fourth (1:50.69).
Campbell leads the three-day event with a score of 814.5 while Radford (492.5), Millersville (378), the Mount (350), UNC-Ashville (253) and North Carolina A&T (117) round out the six-team field.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action in the final day of the Radford Invitational on Saturday. Preliminaries begin at 9 a.m. and final are set to start at 4 p.m.
