EMMITSBURG, Md. – Erin Regan (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) and Cat Coppler (Enfield, Conn./Enrico Fermi) each won three individual events to lead the Mount St. Mary's women's swimming team to a pair of wins on Saturday. The Mount defeated VMI 183-59 and McDaniel 152-108 in the squad's first home meet of the season.
Coppler won the 200 free (2:10.44), the 200 back (2:29.44) and the 200 IM (2:31.65) while Regan took home wins in the 200 fly (2:30.88), 100 free (1:01.25) and the 100 fly (1:08.47) on the afternoon.
Coppler also opened the competition by swimming in the winning 200-medley relay (2:06.88). After Coppler swam the first leg, Anne Thelen (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons), Mollie Walsh (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) and Lena Castro Marquez (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) finished up the first-place finish. Regan was also a part of a winning relay. The sophomore followed Castro in the 200-free relay (1:53.91) before Walsh and Thelen closed out the victory.
Kaitlyn Powell (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) won the 800 free (10:07.43) and finished third in the 200 fly (2:46.22) and the 400 free (4:56.54). Walsh also recorded a first-place standing on the day in the 50 free (28.63) for the Mountaineers.
Patricia Yam (Manila, Philippines/Rosary) finished second in the 100 fly (1:10.47) and third in the 100 back (1:10.59) and the 200 back (2:40.48). Thelen posted second-place standings in the 100 breast (1:22.11) and the 200 breast (2:56.97). Castro placed second in the 200 free (2:21.32) while Victoria Shaw (Malvern, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) was second in the 800 free (10:22.38).
Mount St. Mary's returns to action at the Radford Invitational on Nov. 15.
