EMMITSBURG, Md. - The Mount St. Mary's women's swimming team has
been picked sixth in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Preseason
Coaches' Poll, announced on Thursday.
Central Connecticut State, who has won the last two NEC Swimming
& Diving Championships, has been tabbed as the unanimous
preseason favorite while Wagner, Saint Francis (Pa.), Bryant,
Sacred Heart, the Mount and St. Francis (N.Y.) rounded out the
poll.
Enter its fourth season in program history, Mount St. Mary's finished sixth at the NEC Swimming & Diving Championships last season. Katie Fives finished sixth in the 1-meter dive at the championships while senior Maggie O'Connell (Hagerstown, Md.) notched the program's best finish at the event with a fifth-place standing in the 100 fly. The senior has four top-8 finishes in her career at the championships. The squad also posted an 8-3 record in the regular season in dual meets in 2008-09.
