Anna Nagro will begin her seventh season as the Mount St. Mary’s softball head coach in 2016.

Nagro, whose team won the 2015 Northeast Conference Sportsmanship Award, has worked to build the Mountaineers into contenders in the NEC while earning the respect of her peers.  This past season, she saw junior outfielder Rachel Heinze both the Mount and the Northeast Conference single-season home run record.

Under the guidance of Nagro, the Mountaineers enjoyed a resurgence in 2014 with 19 wins, which were the most for the program since 2010. Through her first six seasons, Nagro has compiled a 93-187-1 record, including a 37-71 mark in Northeast Conference play.

The Mount put together a 19-24-1 campaign in 2014 that included a 7-9 NEC record. The 2014 season was highlighted by the pitching dominance of Nicole Pagano, who finished fifth in Division I with a 1.18 earned run average.

In her previous three seasons, the Mount finished 16-30 in 2013, 17-34 in 2012 and 15-31 in her first year in 2011. In 2012, the Mount won eight Northeast Conference games, tying for the third most in school history for a single season.

Nagro became the first coach in program history to register a win in her Mount coaching debut by defeating George Mason 2-1 on March 2, 2011.

While at the Mount, Nagro has coached one All-NEC First Team selection and five All-NEC second teamers with her players earning four NEC Pitcher of the Week, two NEC Rookie of the Week and one NEC Player of the Week awards.

Nagro came the Mount from D'Youville College, a Division III program in Buffalo, N.Y. In three seasons with the Spartans, Nagro led the team to 40 victories. She took over a team that was coming off a 5-21 season in 2007 and guided the team to a 15-22 overall mark and 11-7 in conference for a 10-game improvement in her first season. D'Youville then went 17-17 overall and 13-3 in league play in her second season and the squad's final year in the Northeastern Athletic Conference.

In 2010, Nagro led D'Youville in its first season in the Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference, ending the year on a four-game winning streak. In addition to her coaching duties, Nagro served as Assistant Director of Athletics and Senior Women's Administrator for the 2009-10 academic year.

Prior to joining D'Youville, Nagro worked as an instructor for high school players at clinics at St. Bonaventure and also worked at Sports Performance Park.

Nagro was a four-year letterwinner at St. Bonaventure, where she was the Bonnies starting catcher for four seasons. She finished her career ranked ninth in program history in career at-bats (422) and fifth in doubles (23) while notching the ninth-most doubles in a single-season with nine two baggers in 2006. The Buffalo, N.Y., native, posted 86 hits, 35 runs scored, 23 doubles, two triples, eight home runs and 64 RBIs in her career.

Nagro earned her bachelor's degree for physical education from St. Bonaventure in 2007 and completed her master's degree in sports administration from Canisius College in 2009.
