Orlando, Fla. (March 4, 2018) - The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team was topped 6-1 and the women's tennis team was blanked 7-0 by Duquesne to finish up the spring break trip on Sunday morning.
The Duquesne men jumped out to the early point advantage by taking two of the three flights in doubles action to begin the match. Brandon Wortkotter and Jackson Wood topped Andrew Ong and Dominic Lea 6-4 in the first flight but Duquesne's Adam Blasinsky and Drew Akins defeated Jean Armstrong and Parth Sharma in the second flight, and Tim Kane and Jared Isaacs topped Gabriel Santos and Evan Hine 6-2 in the third flight.
The Dukes secured the overall match victory by winning five of the six flights in singles competition. In the number three flight, Parth Sharma picked up the only point for the Mount by defeating Chris Corrao in three sets 1-6, 6-4, and 7-6.
The Duquesne women swept the Mount women in both doubles and singles competition on the day. Kylie Isaacs and Julianne Herman defeated Alexa Quintanilla and Hannah Davis 6-1 in the number one flight of doubles and Laurel Shymansky and Aishwarya Kona finished doubles off by topping Megan Gamble and Emma Blake 6-3.
Duquesne won all six singles flights by just two sets each to secure the match victory on the day.
Both the Mount men and women travel to James Madison for a dual-match on Sunday, March 18 at 2:00 PM.
