Orlando, Fla. (March 3, 2018) - The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis edged 4-3 by Norfolk State on Saturday afternoon.
The Mount took the early one point lead from doubles play by winning the first and third flights. Brandon Wortkotter and Jackson Wood topped Alcarez and Dumitrascu 6-1 in the first flight and Evan Hine and Parth Sharma defeated Guevel and Silva 6-4 in the third flight.
Norfolk State secured the match victory by winning four of the six flights of singles competition. NSU won the first, second, fifth, and sixth flights over the Mountaineers. Freshman, Sharma defeated Dumtrascu 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 in the number three flight and sophomore, Jean Armstrong topped Fernandez 6-4, 6-2 in the fourth flight for Mount St. Mary's second and third points.
The Mountaineers have a match tomorrow, March 4 against Duquesne at 8:00 AM to finish up the Spring break trip.
