Men's Tennis Posts 5-2 Win over Saint Francis (Pa.) on Friday

Emmitsburg, Md. (April 5, 2013)--The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team improved to 9-6 on the season with a 5-2 win over Saint Francis (Pa.) on Friday afternoon at the MSM Tennis Courts.

The Mount (9-6, 2-1 NEC) swept the doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead in the match.  Matthew Blake and Taylor Place won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles over Washi Gervais and Sergio Carvaial.  Mike Salomon and Adam Salam teamed up for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles against Andres Rosa and Lawson Barter while Mike Zabetakis and Austin Blake posted an 8-4 win over Chris Jimenez and Juan Pardo at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Matthew Blake was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at No. 1 singles over Gervais.  Brother Austin Blake tallied a 6-4, 6-2 win against Barter at No. 4 singles while Zabetakis had a straight-set win (6-4, 6-0) against Jimenz at the No. 5 spot.  Place cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles against Pardo for the Mountaineers as well.

The Red Flash got points with a Rosa 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) win at No. 2 singles against Salam while Salmon was clipped by Carvaial, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 3 singles.
