George Mason Downs Men's Tennis, 4-3

Emmitsburg, Md. (March 23, 2013)-- The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team lost against the Patriots, 4-3 on Saturday in Emmitsburg. The Mount got points from three singles matches but it wasn't enough to put away the Patriots.

Junior Mike Zabetakis and freshman Austin Blake won at No. 3 doubles, 8-5 against Scott Keaton and Nick Barker. The Patriots would take the other two matches, however to take the doubles point.

In singles action, The Mount won three matches at the three, five, and six spots. Mike Salomon got the scoring going with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Tanner Baine at the No. 3 spot. Zabetakis defeated Taylor Sargent in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 5 spot. Finally, senior Taylor Place stretched his win streak to six matches against Conor Moran at the No. 6 spot. Place needed three sets for the win, winning 7-5, 3-6, 10-8.

The men return to action on Sunday night against Delaware, then travel to Bucknell on Wednesday. The match with the Bison begins at 3:00 PM.
