Emmitsburg, Md. (June 1, 2012)—Mount St. Mary's head men's tennis coach Phil Hammond has announced the signing of Austin Blake (Garnet Valley, Pa./Salesianum [Del.]) to a National Letter of Intent to enroll at the Mount in the fall.
Blake won the Delaware State championship at No. 2 singles as a freshman in 2009 with a perfect 18-0 record, earning All-State honors that season. He was a semifinalist at No. 1 singles in the state in both 2010 and 2011. This season, Blake fell in the state championship match at No. 1 singles. He was ranked No. 1 in the Delaware District of Middle States in the USTA Boys 18 and Under in 2011.
"I am excited to have Austin join us next year as he is a tough competitor with alot of match experience," said Hammond. "He is an excellent student who will be a great teammate and a credit to the Mount."
Blake will join his older brother, Matthew, who played No. 1 singles for the Mount this past season as a sophomore.
