Men’s Tennis Downs Concordia 9-0 on Sunday Afternoon

Orlando, Fla.—Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team defeated Concordia on Sunday afternoon, 9-0, to kick off their spring break trip in Florida. The team won all nine matches en route to the win.

In singles action, all six spots recorded victories in straight sets. Matthew Blake defeated Brian Olson 6-2, 6-2 at the No.1 spot, while freshman Adam Salam beat Devin Larson at the No. 2 spot 6-2, 6-4. At the No. 3 spot, Mike Zabetakis beat Will Granrud 6-3, 6-3 and junior Mike Salomon defeated Kevin Schwandt 6-1, 6-2. Junior Taylor Place beat Peter Dahlberg 6-1, 6-1 and freshman Pat McGinley beat Loren Johnson at the No. 6 spot 6-3, 6-2.

Doubles saw all three pairings record victories. At the No. 1 spot, the junior tandem of Matthew Blake and Taylor Place beat the team of Brian Olson/Devin Larson, 9-7. The duo of Salam/Salomon defeated Schwandt/Dahlberg, 8-4. At the No. 3 spot, Zabetakis/McGinley rolled over Granrund/Johnson, 8-2.

The Mount men return to action today, Monday February 27, when they take on Webber International. First serve is at 3:00 p.m.
