Mount St. Mary's men's tennis coach Phil Hammond has announced the signings of Patrick McGinley (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) and Adam Salam (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) to National Letters of Intent to enroll at the Mount next fall.
"We are happy to have both Adam and Patrick join the men's tennis program at the Mount," said Hammond. "They are both mature competitors who bring a lot of tournament experience to our team."
McGinley was named First Team All-Area in singles last year after winning his league's singles championship. He was named All-Area in doubles in 2008 while he was his team's most valuable player in 2009. McGinley is currently ranked 17th in the Pennsylvania 18 and Under group and 41st in the Middles States 18 and Under rankings.
Salam helped his team to a 16-1 record and the league title in each of the past three seasons. A three-time All-County selection, he earned a state medal in doubles (4th place) while finishing in second and third place in singles in each of the past two years. Salam is currently ranked 10th in the Middles States 18 and Under rankings and was as high as fourth in the Middles States 16th and Under ranks.
The Mountaineers went 3-1 in their four fall matches and resume the 2010-11 season at Navy on Sunday, February 13.
