Komlan Named adidas/Northeast Conference co-Rookie Of The Week

EMMITSBURG, Md. - Koudzo Komlan (Lome, Togo/Upper Darby [Pa.]), a member of the Mount St. Mary's men's soccer team, has been named the adidas/Northeast Conference Co-Rookie of the Week for the week of Sept. 6-12. It is the sophomore first conference honor.

The sophomore defender helped the Mount to its second-straight win and first-ever decision over George Washington on Saturday. Komlan took a long ball and beat the goalkeeper and then popped the ball over the netminder's head at 60:57 mark to break a 3-all standstill and propel Mount St. Mary's to a 4-3 win against the Colonials. It was the sophomore's first collegiate goal.

Komlan has played in all four games this season, including one start and has one goal for two points on three shots in his first season in Emmitsburg.

It marks the 10th time the Mount has received NEC Rookie of the Week honors and first since junior Chris Wheeler (Newcastle, Australia/St. Francis Xavier) took home the award three times in 2008. Senior Eric Detzel (York, Pa./Central York) (2007), Neill Ouska (2006), Steve Cant (2004), Mark Murphy (2002), Matt Moneymaker (2000) and Brian Crum (1998) have also been recognized by the league as the Rookie of the Week.

Mount St. Mary's, who has won its last two games to improve to 2-2 on the year, returns to action on Tuesday at Rider. Match time is 4 p.m.
