The Mount's Brett Schmidt Selected in Fifth Round of Major League Lacrosse Draft

Emmitsburg, Md. -- Mount St. Mary's senior attack Brett Schmidt (Great Mills, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) was selected by the Rochester Rattlers in the fifth round of the 2013 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft the past Friday.  Schmidt is the first Mount player ever to be selected in the MLL Collegiate Draft.

Schmidt earned All-Northeast Conference honors for the third time in his career last season with a Second Team All-NEC nod at the attack position.  Schmidt had 29 goals and 19 assists for 48 points last season.  He recorded six or more points in a game three times, and has scored at least one goal in each of his past 28 games played.

For his career, Schmidt is tied for 15th all-time at the Mount with 136 points.  His 80 career goals are 15th on the Mount's all-time list, and his 56 career assists are 12th.  He was named First Team All-NEC in 2011 and Second Team All-Conference in 2012 and 2010.

The Mount opens the 2013 season at Maryland on Tuesday, February 12.
