Daytona Beach, Fla. (May 5, 2013) -- The Mount St. Mary's men's golf team wrapped up the final day of the NEC Tournament in ninth place with Sunday's round of 319 bringing the three-day total to 962 at the LPGA International Legends Course. Freshman Eric Flockhart carded a 78 (+6) in the final round to tie for 10th place with 227 strokes.
Flockhart became the 23rd Mount player in school history to finish in the top 10 of the NEC Tournament, while his 227 final score is the ninth-best NEC total in program history.
Senior Andrew Lawton remained in a tie for 31st place with his second-consecutive round of 80 (+8) on Sunday. Lawton, who birdied the par-5 second hole, put together a three-round total of 237 to finish second on the team.
The Mount's third-best scorecard came courtesy of freshman Mike Shine and his 243 final score. Shine shot his best round of the tournament with a 78 (+6) on Sunday to move up to a tie for 40th.
LIU Brooklyn's Josh Waters kept his spot atop the leaderboard with a final round 72 (E) to win the individual title with 214 strokes. Waters was followed by Kevin Fawcett of Saint Francis U in second place with 219 strokes and LIU Brooklyn's Obediah Ayton in third with a 220 final score.
In the team competition, Saint Francis U held off LIU Brooklyn and Fairleigh Dickinson with 904 strokes to take the team title. LIU finished second with a score of 908 and FDU took third place with 909 strokes.
The NEC Tournament concludes the Mount's season.
