REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Tonny Aizpun (Barcelona, Spain / Lycee Francais De Barcelone) finished seventh to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's golf team to a fourth-place standing at the Rehoboth Beach Invitational on Monday.
Aizpun finished with an even-par 71 in the first round and then posted a four-over round of 75 in the second round to finish seventh with a 36-hole score of 146, nine strokes behind the medalist.
Andrew Lawton (Severna Park, Md./Mount St. Joseph) posted a 69 in the first round finished the day with a two-round score of 150 in 11th place. The senior's two-under first round marked the first under par round since Devin O'Grady posted a 67 at the Towson Fireline Invitational on Mar. 31, 2012.
Ryan Triller (Street, Md./North Harford) (16th place, 153), James Sturgiss (Littlestown, Pa./Delone Catholic) (16th place, 153), Kevin Ellison (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) (22nd place, 154) and Eric Flockhart (Mississauga, Ontario/St. Francis Xavier) (40th place, 162) also competed for the Mount in the event.
Penn won its own one-day 36-hole event with a score of 578, 22 strokes ahead of Monmouth (599) while St. Francis (Pa.) (600), the Mount (603) and McDaniel (614) rounded out the Top-5 teams in the field. The Mountaineers shot a 293 in the first round to go into the final round with the lead and then posted a 310 in the second round to finish with a score of 603.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action at the Binghamton Collegiate Fall Invitational on Oct. 7.
