Men's Golf Opens 2012-13 Campaign At CCSU Fall Invitational On Saturday

opening tee... The Mount St. Mary's men's golf opens up its 2012-13 campaign at the Central Connecticut State Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. The Mount will be making its first appearance in the Blue Devils fall event.

what's coming back… Junior Tonny Aizpun ranked third on the team with a 76.2 strokes per round average last season and is a 76.7 strokes per round for his career. Aizpun finished in the Top-5 once and four times in the Top-10 last year. Sophomore Ryan Triller averaged 76.8 strokes per round in his first season while junior Kevin Ellison posted a 77.8 strokes per round average in his career. Ellison won the ECAC Championships to notch the first individual win since 2003 and placed second at the NEC Championships.

recapping a great 2011-12 season… The Mount won its first Northeast Conference Men's Golf Championship and participated in the NCAA East Regional for the first time in program history. Along with winning the NEC Championship, the Mount also posted a win at the ECAC Championship last year.  

all-conference selections… Junior Kevin Ellison returns to the team in 2012-13 after earning a spot on the All-NEC second team last season. Ellison and fellow junior Tonny Aizpun were named to the NEC All-Tournament team last year after finishing in the Top-10 in the NEC Championship.

new to the mountain... Freshmen Eric Flockhart, Michael Pansini and Ryan Shine have all joined the team for the 2012-13 campaign.

nationwide… The Mount now has two players that were born outside of the United States on its roster. Tonny Aizpun is in his third season on the squad and hails from Barcelona, Spain while Eric Flockhart joins the team from Mississaugna, Ontario.
