Triller Named NEC Co-Golfer Of The Week
EMMITSBURG, Md. – Ryan Triller (Pylesville, Md./North Harford), a member of the Mount St. Mary's men's golf team, has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Men's Co-Golfer of the Week for the week of Apr. 11-17. It is the freshman's first conference honor.
Triller finished second at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational on Tuesday. The freshman posted a pair of 72's on the first day of the competition and then carded a 76 in the final round to record a three-round total of 220. Triller finished two strokes behind the medalist in second place. The Mount finished the event third as a team.
Triller ranks third on the team with a 76.7 strokes per round average. The second-place standing at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational was the second time this season the freshman posted a Top-5 finish. He finished fourth at the ECAC Championships on Oct. 1. Triller has carded one round under par and five rounds of even par in his freshman campaign.
Triller becomes the first Mount golfer since Ray Hyre earned NEC Co-Golfer of the Week honors for the week of Apr. 20-26. It marks the eighth time since 2000 the Mount has had a player earn the top weekly honor. Along with Hyre and Jake Wetzel took home the award in 2007-08, Justin Sick earned the honor twice in the 2006-07 season, including sharing the honor with current head coach Kevin Farrell in the fall of that campaign. Colby Jacobs and Andrew Hill each earned the award once during the 2003-04 season and Josh Leibfried picked up the nod twice in the 2000-01 season.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action at the Navy Spring Invitational on Saturday.
