Ellison Ranks Fifth After First Day Of Gary Freeman B-CU Invitational

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Kevin Ellison (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) finished fifth after two rounds to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's golf team to an eighth-place standing at the Gary Freeman B-CU Invitational on Tuesday.

Ellison opened the Mount's first event in the spring with a round of 76 and then posted a 69 in the second round to card a score of 145 and place fifth, six strokes behind the current leader.

Devin O'Grady (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) (21st place, 151), Dan Michalek (Mount Airy, Md./Mount St. Joseph) (36th place, 155), Ryan Triller (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) (40th place, 158) and Tonny Aizpun (Barcelona, Spain/Lycee Francais De Barcelone) (40th place, 158) rounded out the Mount's five team competitors. Andrew Lawton (Severna Park, Md./Mount St. Joseph) (40th place, 158) is competing in the event as an individual.

Florida Atlantic leads the three-round two-day event with a score of 579, one stroke ahead of Bethune-Cookman (580) while Laval (585), Embry-Riddle (588) and Savannah State (602) round out the Top-5 teams in the 11-team field. The Mount sits in eighth place after posting a 307 in the first round and a 301 in the second round for a total of 608.
