January 8, 2018—Mount St. Mary's senior guard Junior Robinson (Mebane, N.C.) and freshman guard Jonah Antonio (Perth, Australia) have been recognized with Northeast Conference Weekly honors. Robinson was named the NEC Player of the Week while Antonio earned NEC Co-Rookie of the Week honors.
Robinson averaged 26.0 points and 6.5 assists in helping lead the Mountaineers to a pair of NEC victories. He opened the week with a 25-point, nine-assist effort in the Mount's 96-80 victory over Bryant. Robinson finished the game 7-of-8 from the field, 2-of-3 from three-point range, and 9-of-10 at the foul line in a near-perfect shooting performance. He followed by scoring 23 of his game-high 27 points in the second half to lead Mount St. Mary's past Central Connecticut, 78-51, on Saturday. The 5-5 guard was 9-of-16 from the field and 5-of-9 from three-point range in the win.
Robinson leads the Northeast Conference in scoring at 21.9 points per game while he is second in the circuit with 5.2 assists per game.
Antonio had it going from long distance last week, averaging 18.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in the Mount's two wins. He opened the week with 18 points in the Mount's victory over Bryant, hitting 4-of-12 from three-point range in the game. Against Central Connecticut, the freshman was 6-of-11 from beyond the arc to finish with 18 points while adding five rebounds in the win. For the week, Antonio shot 50.0 percent from the field and 43.5 percent (10-of-23) from three-point range.
Antonio is averaging 11.8 points per game this season, and he is fourth in the nation with 153 three-point field goal attempts this season.
Mount St. Mary's is back in action on Thursday, January 11, when Sacred Heart visits Knott Arena for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
