Emmitsburg, Md. (June 15, 2015)--Mount St. Mary's University men's basketball coach Jamion Christian has announced that Greg Alexander (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) has transferred to the Mount. Alexander will sit out the 2015-16 season due to NCAA transfer rules and has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
"We are extremely thrilled to have Greg Alexander join our program," said Christian. "Two years ago he was the top guy on our recruiting board and we are excited to have him with us for his remaining two years of eligibility. He fits mayhem and what we truly believe in. His combination of athleticism and three-point ability will help us continue to be one of the best in the Northeast Conference."
Alexander saw limited action at East Carolina, appearing in 14 games over his two seasons at the school. He scored a career-high 11 points against Chowan during his freshman year. As a senior in high school, he averaged 16 points per game while hitting 71 three-point field goals to help Kecoughtan to a 26-5 record and a district championship.
Christian also announced that Chris Martin (Upper Marlboro, Md.) and Andrew Smeathers (Bargersville, Ind.) will not return next season. Martin averaged 7.4 points in 24 games played for the Mount last season while Smeathers averaged 8.7 points in 14 games.
Mount St. Mary's went 15-15 last season, finishing in fourth place in the Northeast Conference with an 11-7 league mark.
