February 20, 2014--Mount St. Mary's University mourns the passing of Dick Talley, the captain of the Mount's 1962 National Championship team. A 1962 graduate of the Mount, Talley is 17th on the Mount's all-time scoring list.
Talley scored a team-high 23 points, hitting 10-of-16 from the field, while adding eight rebounds in the Mount's 58-57 overtime victory against Sacramento State in the 1962 NCAA College Division National Championship game. Talley averaged 14.3 points and 7.6 rebounds for the 1961-62 season.
Talley finished his career with 1,390 points, which is 17th on the Mount's all-time scoring list. A member of the Mount's Hall of Fame, he was inducted with the entire 1961-62 team in 1978.
On Saturday, Feb. 22, Talley's family will have a viewing at the McCann-Healey Funeral Home, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Gloucester City, N.J.
