Minnesota Tops Mount, 85-56

Minneapolis, Minn. (November 21, 2011)—Mount St. Mary's lost at Minnesota, 85-56, on Monday night in a non-conference matchup.  Danny Thompson paced the Mountaineers with 14 points and seven rebounds in the game.

Freshman walk-on Kelvin Parker, making his first career start, added a season-high 13 points.  Julian Norfleet chipped in 12 points and Josh Castellanos added 10 in the game for the Mount (1-3).   

Austin Hollins led Minnesota with 14 points with Andre Hollins adding 13.

The Golden Gophers started the game on an 11-0 run and never looked back.  Austin Hollins started the run with a four-point play and added another three-pointer in the streak.

Thompson hit a pair of buckets to cut the deficit to 12-4, but Minnesota scored the next 13 points for a commanding 25-4 lead.

Thompson scored 10 of his team-high 14 points in the opening half, but the Golden Gophers led 51-18 at the break.

Redshirt sophomore forward Kristijan Krajina returned to the lineup for the Mount.  Krajina, who posted four points and four rebounds in 22 minutes, was suspended the first three games due to a violation of team rules. 

Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Sunday, November 27, with a 7:00 p.m. game at Navy.

Game Notes:  The Mount is now 0-11 all-time against teams in the Big 10 Conference…Minnesota won the only other meeting between the two teams, an 87-62 decision on December 28, 1995…That win has since been vacated by the Golden Gophers.
