Mount St. Mary's heads back on the road for a Wednesday night matchup at Hartford. The Mount was defeated by #22 Marquette in the season opener on Friday night.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the Mount and Hartford, a member of the America East Conference. The Mountaineers are 4-7 all-time against teams in America East since going to NCAA Division I in 1988-89. The Mount plays a pair of games against America East foes this year, at Hartford and at home against Albany on New Year's Eve.
Sophomore Julian Norfleet led the Mount with 12 points at Marquette while senior Danny Thompson pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. The Mount hung tough on the boards with Marquette, pulling down 16 offensive rebounds while being edged 36-33 in total boards.
Hartford enters Wednesday's game 0-2 on the season after falling to Northeast Conference member Sacred Heart, 70-50, in the season opener and to Penn State, 70-55. Yolonzo Moore leads the Hawks in scoring at 9.0 points per game while Jamie Schneck and Wes Cole are averaging 7.5 points.
The Hawks are struggled on offense so far this year, averaging 52.5 points per game while shooting just 33.6 percent from the field. Hartford is 13-of-56 (.232) from three-point range in the two games.
The Mount will return home to face Siena on Saturday, November 19, at 7:00 p.m. at Knott Arena in the home opener. The Mountaineers have won three straight and six of their past seven home openers, including a 68-62 overtime win against Savannah State last year.
