Men's Basketball Picked to Finish Sixth in Annual Preseason Coaches Poll
November 2, 2011—Mount St. Mary's has been picked to finish sixth in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.
Defending champion Long Island has been tabbed as the league favorite by the league's coaches, followed by Robert Morris, Central Connecticut State, Wagner, Quinnipiac, the Mount, Bryant, Sacred Heart, Saint Francis (Pa.), Monmouth, St. Francis (N.Y.), Fairleigh Dickinson.
The Mount went 11-21 overall and finished in a tie for sixth place with a 9-9 NEC mark last season. The Mount is one of two teams in the NEC to record a .500 or better record in league play in each of the past six seasons.
Mount St. Mary's opens the 2011-12 season on Friday, November 11th, at No. 22 Marquette. Tip-off is slated for 9:00 p.m. (ET) and the game will be aired live on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN).
