Emmitsburg, Md. (November 28, 2017) – Mount St. Mary's University baseball Head Coach Scott Thomson announced the team's recruiting class for 2018-19 on Tuesday. Thomas Bramley, Connor Buggy, Ben Daniels, Ryan Fisher, Ryan Florio, Ryan Haddaway, Noah Kirkland, Jack Lawrence, Trevor Leamer, Sebastian Mieses, Bryant Shives, and Denny Snyder make up the twelve-player class for Thomson and his staff.
"We are very excited to announce the 2018 recruiting class for the Mount St. Mary's University baseball program," said Thomson. "I would first like to thank my assistant coaches for helping me put this recruiting class together. This freshman class will help give us great depth in the infield and on the mound. Every one of these incoming student athletes have the ability to step right in and play at the Division 1 level. We are excited to add them to an already talented team."
Thomas Bramley | C/Utility | Lower Dauphin HS
Coach Thomson on Bramley: "Thomas is a very versatile player being able to catch and playing the infield and outfield at Lower Dauphin High School, and is someone who can shut down the opponents running game with a plus arm behind the plate. Thomas is able to play multiple positions and has a solid left handed bat with gap-to-gap power."
Connor Buggy | IF/C/Utility | Lower Dauphin HS
Coach Thomson on Buggy: "Connor is an outstanding athlete. He can play any position on the field. Every team needs one these players. We look for Connor to compete in the infield and behind the plate his first year."
Ben Daniels | IF | Paintsville HS
Coach Thomson on Daniels: "Ben is a solid defensive player who knows how to play the game the right way. He is always hustling, and knowing where to be. His baseball IQ will help him compete for a position in the infield right away."
Ryan Fisher | P/IF | Catoctin HS
Coach Thomson on Fisher: "Ryan will be asked to compete for a spot in the infield and in the back end of the bullpen. He is a very tough competitor, and with his hard work will find his name in the lineup or on the mound."
Ryan Florio | Pitcher | Florence HS
Coach Thomson on Florio: "Ryan is an ultimate strike thrower. He pounds the ball down and moves the ball around the zone. He knows how to pitch to contact and get guys out… We look for Ryan to compete for a starting spot or be the closer coming out of the pen."
Ryan Haddaway | 3B | Poolesville HS
Coach Thomson on Haddaway: "Ryan has a great eye for the ball. He can hit for average and gap-to-gap power from the right side of the plate. We look for him to compete for a starting position at 3B right away."
Noah Kirkland | Pitcher | Unionville HS
Coach Thomson on Kirkland. "Noah will look to compete as a reliever either long or short relief. He can throw three pitches for strikes and knows how to command the zone and repeat his delivery."
Jack Lawrence | 1B | Atholton HS
Coach Thomson on Lawrence. "Jack will be battling for time at 1B. He brings a solid power bat and great glove at 1B. Jack's baseball knowledge and athletic ability is off the charts."
Trevor Leamer | 1B/OF | Berks Catholic HS
Coach Thomson on Leamer: "Trevor brings a much needed power hitting bat from the left side. We look for Trevor to step right in and compete for a starting position right away. His ability to hit to all fields will help keep him in the lineup on a daily basis."
Sebastian Mieses | OF | Chevy Chase HS
Coach Thomson on Mieses. "Sebastian has a lot of tools in the outfield. He has a plus arm and gets great jumps on flyballs. At the plate he does a great job of working the count and looking for his pitch. We look for him to compete for a starting job in the outfield next year."
Bryant Shives | SS/2B | St. Maria Goretti HS
Coach Thomson on Shives. "Bryant is a very versatile player. His arm can play anywhere in the infield, he has very soft hands and great feet to cover ground. He also brings a very solid bat from the right side that will help him to compete for a starting job in the infield."
Denny Snyder | RHP | Cedar Cliff HS
Coach Thomson on Snyder. "Denny knows how to command the strike zone and throw quality pitches for strikes at any time. We look for Denny to come right in and battle for a spot in our conference rotation."
