Emmitsburg, Md. (September 6, 2017) – Former Mount St. Mary's University baseball standout Vince Molesky recently wrapped up his second season of professional ball with the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League. Molesky was named the team's Pitcher of the Year after leading the Grizzlies in strikeouts (120) and posting a 3.84 ERA.
In his final start of the season on September 3, Molesky struck out 12 batters to reach 120 punch outs on the year, tying a franchise record for most in a season previously held by Scott Patterson, who went on to pitch for the New York Yankees and San Diego Padres. Molesky registered eight victories during the 2017 campaign, while striking out more batters (120) than hits allowed (118). The righty was named the Frontier League Pitcher of the Week on a pair of occasions during the season.
Molesky, a 2014 Mount St. Mary's grad, is tied for fourth in program history in career wins (12) and games started (37), and fifth in career strikeouts (160) and innings pitched (215.2). The righty from Montoursville, Pa. led the team in strikeouts (42) his senior season while registering a 3.92 ERA with five victories.
