Emmitsburg, Md. (April 14, 2017) - Jared Urban, Vaughn Parker II, Zach Hostetter, and Brendan Dabagian all had multi-hit games but late ninth inning rally lifted Central Connecticut over Mount St. Marys 7-5 on Friday afternoon. Michael Collins pitched six solid innings for the Mount while only giving up one earned run.
Patrick Causa hit a two RBI single through the right side of the infield that plated Urban and Dabagian in the bottom of the third for the first two runs of the game. The Blue Devils got a run back in the top of the fourth on a sacrifice fly from Dylan Maher that brought in Mitch Guilmette.
The Mount tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it a 4-1 game. Urban hit a single through the right side that scored Chris Wessels. Urban was caught trying to steal second but Dabagian scored from third on the throw.
The two teams traded runs in the sixth inning. Central Connecticut scored on an error while Hostetter hit a solo home run for the Mountaineers. The Blue Devils added another run in the top of the seventh on a throwing error that made it a 5-3 game.
TT Bowens started the comeback for CCSU in the top of the ninth inning with a single down the leftfield line that plated Tyler Coleman that made it a one run game. Chris Kanios reached base on an infield single with two outs that brought Ryan Costello across the plate to even the game at 5 runs apiece. Maher put the Blue Devils up two runs with a double to centerfield later in the inning.
Zach Call (3-3) received the loss for the Mount while Michael Delease (2-0) received the win and Patrick Mitchell picked up his second save of the season.
The series finale between the two teams is tomorrow at 12 pm.
