Emmitsburg, Md. (May 1, 2013)—Mount St. Mary's senior Tom Healy (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) has added a second national player of the week award as he has been named the College Baseball Insider (CBI) Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week after going 13-for-16 (.813) at the plate in the Mount's four-game split with Fairleigh Dickinson.
On Monday, Healy was selected as the Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball newspaper while also garnering Northeast Conference Player of the Week honors.
Healy finished the four-game series 13-for-16 (.813) with three doubles, a triple, two home runs, eight RBIs and eight runs scored. He had a slugging percentage of 1.500 for the series, and posted an on-base percentage of .842.
Healy opened the series by going 4-for-5 with a double, a triple and two runs scored in the Mount's 7-1 victory. He followed with a 3-for-3 game with three RBIs, two doubles and three runs scored as the Mount posted a 17-0 victory. After going 2-for-3 with an RBI in the Mount's 10-4 loss to the Knights, Healy closed the series by going 4-for-5 with two home runs, three runs scored and three RBIs in a 10-7 extra-inning loss.
With his big weekend, Healy is now hitting a .402 on the year with 10 doubles, two triples, four home runs and 20 RBIs. He is currently second in the NEC batting race, and has a 1.086 OPS on the year.
Mount St. Mary's is back in action with a four-game series at Wagner beginning on Friday, May 1.
